Ok. Loved! - Vol.II
A weekly lifestyle newsletter on fashion, books, and what I'm watching, reading, and loving in NYC
WHEW! What a week. As Marlo Hampton would say, “this week drained me.” This was quite the busy work week — what feels like all of my clients launched their Summer Collections at once, which entails hundreds of emails. But I do have some very cool clients, so a busy launch week is always exciting albeit exhausting.
Mexican food is my love language. Tacos and queso fuel me. So you can imagine my devastation when I didn’t think to grab a reservation in time for Cinco de Mayo — which, criminally, fell on Taco Tuesday this year. I did manage to drag myself out of the apartment the next day for what seems to be the only white queso in the city at Javelina, which softened the blow. It’s the little things, people!!
The Met Gala was the perfect night of escapism (because lord knows we need it). Yes, the hypocrisy of it all, but also, watching the most beautiful people in the world dress up for charity? I will always be sat. My favorite looks of the evening were Emma Chamberlain, Chase Infiniti, Hunter Schafer and Kendall Jenner. Shoutout also to the Anti-Jeff Bezos Met Gala!! Fingers crossed my mom and I can check out the Costume Art exhibit when it opens on Mother’s Day.
Speaking of which, I’m excited to spend Mother’s Day with my mom this year. And my daughter, of course, who better have gotten me something really good for the amount of ANXIETY she causes me on the daily (the most recent being: eating a joint off the street without me seeing, then having to rush her to the vet because I thought she was dying, only to be told (after spending all my money) that she was high).
Well there is my weekly recap!! Now let’s get into the things that I’ve been loving this week.
WHAT I’M LOVING
The Chicest Paper Plates You’ll Ever See: Yes, these are paper. I’m so obsessed with Table Two Studio. I discovered them over the holidays, reached out asking to work with them, and the rest is history. They make hosting so much easier and their designs are so chic and easy to mix and match. They’re obviously such a good alternative for people without a lot of storage (like me!) or budget for tabletop, but they’re also so fun if you just want to just mix it up from the same china or plates you always use. I’ve bought them as hostess gifts and also have my own stockpile at home. They just launched their Summer Collection this week and the designs are adorable. I’m placing an order to bring along on my trip to East Hampton!
The Best Beach Towel: I never thought about beach towels until I had a good one. Now I can’t go back. What makes Weezie so special, you ask? Well, they’re amazingly oversized, they don’t pick up sand or dirt, and they’re very absorbent. I have one from their collaboration with interior designer Heather Chadduck from a few years ago, and it’s been on many beach trips with me. Weezie also just launched their Summer Collection and I think I’m going to add the sardine print to my stash. They’re also about to kick off their Stitch & Save event today (free embroidery)!
The Fish Obsession Continues: I’m a little obsessed with fish. Can you tell?!? It’s reminiscent of my skull & crossbones phase from high school. I came across this necklace from Mignonne Gavigan and stopped in my tracks. I needed to have it. It’s such a fun necklace — the combo of the gem and the fish charm — and I love a collarbone necklace, especially in the summer with off the shoulder tops.
The Dreamiest Blouse: DÔEN can do no wrong and this top is exhibit A. I’d been eyeing it for awhile and finally pulled the trigger and I’m so glad I did. The feminine ruffle details, the floral motifs, the puff sleeves, the fit — it’s everything. Easy, breezy, beautiful (COVERGIRL). I’ve only had it a few weeks and it’s already in heavy rotation.
The BEST-SMELLING Candle: My mom and I popped into Clic — the cutest store — on her last visit. I’d been on the hunt for a new candle and my eye went straight to this one. The second I smelled it, I was sold. The vessel is also really fun: it melts down with the candle, so it doubles as a sculptural decor piece and smells amazing. It’s on the pricier side, but 100% worth it.
The Hat of the Summer: No explanation needed. This is the cutest hat I’ve ever seen. I will be sporting this all summer. As I’m writing this, I’m also realizing this is yet another fish related product.

RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE WEEK
Feel Good Read: “The joy of being a ‘girl’ even when you’re in your 30s” on Vogue India
Interiors Inspo: “Inside the Homes of the Vintage-Obsessed Modern Showgirls Keeping Las Vegas Kitsch Alive” on Architectural Digest. This article is amazing. Such a departure from the typical celebrity fueled coverage and it’s just such a fun read.
Beli Saves: La Pecora Bianca Theatre District. The interiors are insane and it’s always so hard to find a good spot before a show.
Watching: My girlfriends and I got together to watch Devil Wears Prada 2 and relive our dreams of becoming magazine editors when we grew up. The movie felt like a warm hug and I think the cast did a great job. It may be a little triggering if you work in media — being adjacent to the industry, it was giving “wait, is this play about us?” If you can turn your brain off about the state of the industry, though, it’s fun!
Reading: I just finished Margo’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe and absolutely loved it. The story follows a young woman who gets pregnant by her college professor and turns to OnlyFans to support herself, all while navigating the complicated relationship she has with her narcissistic mom and her absent ex-pro-wrestler dad. It deals with heavy topics in a way that’s lighthearted, humorous and feel-good. I rated it 4/5 starts on Goodreads!
Rabbit Hole: The hantavirus infested cruise ship. Can’t stop deep diving the Reddit threads.
